L'affiche du Cinemed 2021 dévoilée // The poster unveiled

Affiche Cinemed 2021

As society’s finger slowly releases the cultural pause button, life is regaining momentum, enveloped in the warm and soothing sunlight of an afternoon on the beach.

Getting back into the swing of things, reviving the desire of exchange and encounters… such is the invitation we extend from the 15 to 23 of October for the 43rd edition of Cinemed in Montpellier.

The poster is based on a photogram taken from Memory Box, the new film by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige.

Cinemed is delighted to be paying tribute to this compelling and singular couple of Lebanese artists which it has followed since their beginnings with Autour de la maison rose.
With rare audacity and with little regard for conventions, they alternate short films, fiction, documentaries, accompanied by a devoted team, bringing new actors into the spotlight or calling upon the likes of Catherine Deneuve.

Through their works, these Lebanese film makers question the past, invite retrospection and plough the results back in to contemporary expression. Their talents aren’t limited to cinema either, with artwork exhibited in mainstream museums, biennials and cultural centres all over the world. In 2017 they were awarded the prestigious Marcel Duchamp prize. One of their works will be on display during the festival.

The poster is by Benjamin Seznec from the Troïka agency.
