João Pedro Plácido

João Pedro Plácido was born in Lisbon, 1979. He worked through the ranks of the camera department in the traditional way, moving from assistant to camera operator and finally to cinematographer. He is fluent in five languages and has been working in features such as Li Ké Terra de Filipa Reis, Joao Miller et Nuno Baptista (Escolas Award DocLisboa 2010, Best long feature and Best Portuguese Film, Cinéma du réel 2011) and Via de Acesso by Nathalie Mansoux (awarded at Indie Lisboa), shorts (As Regrasde Atracçao by Jorge Cramez) documentaries and commercials all around the world since 2000. (Be)Longing, co-written with Laurence Ferreira Barbosa, is his first documentary as director. The film was selected at Cannes Film Festiva ACID 2015 and was awarded at DocLisboa Festival.
