The story of a family; the story of a conflict. The rural and the urban, the past and the present, parents and their offspring: opposing ways of life struggle against one another whilst, in eloquent silence, the grandmother, Amama, watches her family’s destiny unfold.


Asier Altuna

Born in Bergara, 1969. After working as a technician in several feature films, he took to film directing with Telmo Esnal; the two joined hands to write and direct the short films Txotx and 40 ezetz, the feature film Aupa Etxebeste! and the TV series Brinkola. By himself, he has written and directed another four short films : Topeka, Sarean, Artalde, all selected at Cinemed, Zela Trovke and the documentary feature Bertsolari (Cinemed 2012). All of his films have been presented at international festivals and have received numerous awards. His short film The Field was selected in competition at Cinemed. In 2008 he founded the production company Txintxua Films, with which he directed and produced his first feature film, Amama: When a Tree Falls.
