Anne Fontaine

Born in 1959 in Luxembourg. She trained as a dancer and made her début as an actress in the cinema in the 1980s. The first film that she directed, Les Histoires d'amour finissent mal… en général, was awarded the Jean Vigo prize in 1993. She made the medium-length film Augustin two years later. Nettoyage à sec received much attention in 1997. She then worked with Charles Berling again on Comment j'ai tué mon père. En 2003, She made Nathalie and then the 'intimate thriller', Entre ses mains, in 2005. She directed Roschdy Zem in La Fille de Monaco (2008) and Audrey Tautou in Coco avant Chanel (2009). In Mon pire cauchemar she worked with Benoît Poelvoorde for the third time. In 2013, she adapts for the screen a Doris Lessing short story alongside with Christopher Hampton, Perfect Mothers starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright. She directed Gemma Aterton and Fabrice Luchini in Gemma Bovery, adaptation from Posy Simmonds, graphic novel. She directed Les Innocentes (2015) and Marvin ou La Belle éducation (2016).
