Curzio Malaparte

Born Kurt-Erich Suckert in 1898 in Prato in Tuscany, died in Rome in 1957. An Italian writer, journalist, war correspondent and diplomat, he is known for two major works: Kaputt and La Pelle (The Skin). A famous novelist, Malaparte made only one film in his life, The Forbidden Christ, but with high aesthetic ambitions and surprising know-how. Its tone oscillates between melodrama and spiritual tragedy.
