The story runs in the one-way dialogue between the bedridden head of the family and the other family members at his bedside. The latter profit from the 'l'ammentu' rite to express their own bitterness, thoughts and feelings that social rules and conventions had prevented them from expressing. Everything takes place in a very short period of time dominated by the figure of the mysterious Femina Agabbadora with all her authority and solitude. 'Femina Agabbadora' was very popular in Sardinia until the end of the nineteenth century. She was both midwife and nurse and could also be called upon to put an end to dying people's suffering.
