Two chapters, two time periods, one story. On one hand, 1937, at the height of the Stalinist purges in Yerevan, in the then Soviet Armenia, the year of arrest of Nora Dabagian's father who was a political dissident. On the other hand, 2006, the circumstantial story of the arrest related by the old woman, affectionately known as Baboulia, who was a very young girl in 1930s. The tense question between these two sides is how to transmit it and what the images and sensations should be conveyed? In two necessarily fragmented and complimentary stories the film is a homage to transmission and memory. |
