Kaouther Ben Hania

Born in 1977, Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania based in Paris studied cinema in Tunisia (EDAC) then in Paris (Fémis and la Sorbonne). She directed several short films including "me, my sister and the thing” (2006) and « Wooden hand » (2013). Both films had a long and successful run on the international festival circuit. Her documentary film « Imams go to school » was premiered at IDFA 2010 and selected in many prestegious festivals (Vancouver, Dubai, Amiens…) Challat of Tunis her first feature film, was selected in Cannes Film Festival 2014, in the ACID section and released in over 15 countries. She is currently developping her second feature film Mime (Sister Productions) for which she won a development grant at Cinemed 2014. Her last documentary film Zaineb Hates the Snow was selected at Locarno in 2016.
