Amina, a young widow with three children looks after her family with the help of her father Hashem. The old man, vigorous and dynamic, has a very special relationship with the youngest daughter Sara who is eight years old. A sensitive, mischievous child, she won't let either death or traditions come between herself and her grandfather.

Maryam Touzani

Born in 1980 in Tangiers, Morocco, Maryam Touzani spent her childhood in her native city before graduating from London University. Passionate about writing, she settled in Morocco after graduation and worked as a journalist specialising in cinema and in the meantime developing projects centred on this other passion. She soon felt the need to make her own films. This short is her first. After When They Slept, her first short film selected in many festivals including Montpellier in 2012, she directed Much Loved, documentary, in 2015. Aya Goes to the Beach is her last short fiction.
