In the medina of Casablanca, young Thami braves the wrath of his father, a conservative Adel coming from a long line of prestigious Koranic lawyers, to embrace the only occupation he cares for : butchery. As he handles the meats, he discovers another taboo passion, women and the taste of love with Zineb. A journey of initiation. A quest for freedom. Thami and Zineb's revolution through love in today's changing Morocco.

Abdelhai Laraki

A graduate of École Louis-Lumière and studies in cinema at the Sorbonne under the direction of Jean Rouch, Abdelhai Laraki's creative activities cover advertising, television and cinema. He worked on awareness campaigns for the Ministry of Health, WHO and the Conseil Consultatif des Droits de l'Homme. He thus makes free use of cinema and television for singular observation of contemporary Moroccan society: the leaden years in 'Mona Saber' (2001), his first full-length film, the power of money in 'Parfum de Mer' (2006) and battered women and unmarried mothers in the television series 'Mama Taja'. Like his previous films, 'Love in the Medina' (2011) invites reflection on man, his relations with society, with history, with Islam and with power.
