Reflection on the theme of Mediterranean exile and insularity centred on Sète, the town where I was born. For me, an island is a metaphor of exile, a place that you dream of reaching and that you wish to leave-for other horizons-once you have got there. A place where there is continuous metamorphosis of the inhabitants and of the place itself (how many names has Sète-Cette had during its history!). The film is traversed by drawings undergoing metamorphosis and trips by train around the profile of Sète to try to circumscribe it, and by wanderings in the town. The colour blue is the thread running through the whole.

Cécile Ravel

Born in Sète in 1964, she studied experimental and animation cinema at the San Francisco Art Institut with Larry Jordan. She has a PHD in Plastic Arts, the Archeology of cinema and the poetic of screening. Her films mix various screening techniques (slides, super 8 and 16mm film, video) and her installations are made up of still and animated images. Her latest works explore the memory of her family of a North African origin.
