Ruthie and Or, a mother and her daughter, live in a small Tel Aviv flat. Ruthie has been a prostitute for the last twenty years. Or has tried many times to have her quit working the streets, but without success. The daily routine of 17 year-old Or is an endless succession of petty jobs : washing dishes in a restaurant, cleaning staircases and collecting deposit bottles while attending high school whenever she can. Ruthie's health is worsening. After an umpteenth visit to her mother at the hospital, Or decides that this time, things must change for good.

Keren Yedaya

Born in the United States in 1972, she has been living in Israel since 1975. With a diploma from the Camera Obscura film school, she has been organizing workshops with children from the streets since 1993. Since 1997, she has been giving conferences about prostitution for psychologists and members of the government. She has also directed three short films : Elinor, Lulu (2000) and Les Dessous (2001). Or (mon trésor) is her first feature film, for which she won the development grant in Montpellier in 2001. Presented in the International Critics Week in Cannes, it won both the Grand Prize and the Camera d'or for best first film all sections taken into account.
